The caterpillar – a Systemic Wisdom Poem

In this special in-residence project does artist Ines Camino translate the systemic wisdoms of systemic coach Oscar Westra van Holthe into visuals and poems that speak to your heart.

The caterpillar

A caterpillar in a worm family,
Trapping itself hard in the cocoon
Trying to belong anxiously.

It wants to believe it’s a worm,
It constrains its wings from growing,
Not knowing where they come from.

If its wings could be seen,
How different would its life had been?
A butterfly in disguise,
Surviving it desperately tries.

Discomfort increases,

Alien to its own body,
Identity masked,
Broken in pieces.

Seeking for approval it crawls.
Blind to its uniqueness,
It builds up walls.

If it doesn’t conform,
Into an excluded member
It will transform.

Yet, its wings it must see,
For inner love to surge,
And free it can be.
